# What health details matter?

Start with your health concern, then bring the details that help explain it.

## Put your history into the conversation

Bring a list of medicines and supplements. Include past diagnoses, current symptoms, and what changed. A short note is enough to start the conversation.

As of October 1, 2026, FDA's [ipamorelin review](https://www.fda.gov/media/182088/download) raises concerns about blood sugar and possible tumour-related effects. Ipamorelin makes the body release growth hormone, a chemical message in the body. FDA looked at warning labels for medicines that supply growth hormone. It is concerned that ipamorelin could share those medicines' risks. That concern is based on other medicines; these effects have not been proved in people taking ipamorelin.

A question to bring

How do my blood sugar, any cancer history, and current medicines affect the options we discuss?

## Pregnancy and family plans

As of October 1, 2026, ipamorelin has no FDA-reviewed instructions for pregnancy, breastfeeding, or children. Those groups have not been tested with it. Discuss these gaps with a licensed care professional.

## Can a blood test settle a hormone shortage?

FDA's [explanation of the tests](https://www.fda.gov/media/182088/download) says growth hormone levels change during the day. A single reading cannot show whether you have a shortage. Another blood test measures a substance called IGF-1. One IGF-1 result is not enough on its own either. The doctor also looks at symptoms and usually uses special blood tests that prompt growth hormone release.

## Questions about competing in sport

International sport standards come from WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency. Its [2026 prohibited list](https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/2025-09/2026list_en_final_clean_september_2025.pdf) names ipamorelin and bans it both during and outside competition. The [next list](https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/2026-09/2027list_en_final_clean_26_august_2026_2.pdf) keeps that entry and takes effect on January 1, 2027.

Ask the organisation that runs your sport which rules apply to you. For a banned medicine needed for an illness, there is a way to apply for special permission, called an exemption. Ask that organisation how to apply and whether permission is needed before use.
